Monica Nicole Cyster Portrait

Monica Nicole Cyster, a 15-year old singer-songwriter from Cape Town-South Africa, has achieved a remarkable milestone her latest track has been accepted into the SABC Music Library. This recognition places her music in the fore-front of music supervisors across national TV, radio, and media platforms.

Despite her age, Monica writes with intention and purpose. “My music is about encouraging people to achieve their goals,” she says. That clarity is exactly what gives her voice weight, especially among younger listeners who are still discovering their path.

She imagines her songs being played both through headphones during private moments and out loud at parties. “Both,” she explains, “feel like home to me.”

Monica reveals that the inspiration behind the track came during a moment of clarity. “I felt like I needed to stay focused on the music,” she says a mindset that has helped shape her evolving sound.

Her early influences include her father and breakout global star Tyla, whom Monica hopes to collaborate with in the future. When asked which part of her latest track feels the most personal, her answer is simple but powerful: “The sound.”

She creates quickly, recording soon after writing to keep her ideas fresh and flowing. “It helps me make space for new ones,” she shares.

As for what she wants listeners to feel after hearing her music? “Strong and proud,” she says without hesitation.

“I’m still exploring,” she admits, “but I know I’m on the right track.” With this achievement behind her and a growing sense of creative identity, Monica Nicole Cyster is a name we’ll be seeing a lot more of in the music industry.
